Not one ounce of pretense in this shot! I love how she is just so boldly and simply and GENUINELY herself!! wow.If I went into the levels of thought that this image provoked, y’all would be here all day, but bottom line, I LOVE this captured moment! Love.

If it’s Monday it’s time for another episode of Connections Radio. Thank you to everyone who supported our first episode last week. This week we’re talking to author Binyavanga Wainaina.

Check out the video above. It’s a satirical critique written by Binyavanga on how Africa is portrayed in media. It’s read by actor Djimon Hounsou.

A collection of images from Moi Avenue Primary school polling station in Nairobi County, Starehe Constituency on March 4th 2013. This station had the longest lines I personally experienced but the voters were patient and determined to cast their votes in the Kenya General elections.

Demand for clichés is expected to reach a peak as foreign correspondents fly in to cover the election. “We anticipate a run on ‘hotly contested’ and ‘neck and neck’” said an unemployed militant.
Every reporter will be issued with an election package as they step out of the plane and are greeted by the tropical heat of Africa.
Non-government organisations are understood to have teams on standby, ready to supply quotes about rampant corruption, grinding poverty, and soaring unemployment.

Just a couple of days before the Kenyan general election and the international media houses are vamping up their sensationalist vultures, just WAITING for blood! The truth is, Kenya has never been more united and AWARE of the fact that Peace really is the only way.

Sadly, there will be inciters and thugs waiting for reasons to gain from unfortunate situations. However, PEACE is the dominant message this year and Joel Lukhovi so beautifully, captured one of the MANY amazing initiatives that is spreading our anthems words; words that ALL Kenyans have sung since childhood:

”…May we Dwell in Unity, Peace and Liberty…”

God Bless Kenya, and may this Election be a fair, just and peaceful one!
